In response,Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity In.,launched a joint venture with the Wilmington HOPE Commission launched a joint venture with  in the construction of a 10,700 square-foot facility aptly named The Achievement Center located at 38 Vandever Avenue. In partnership with state and local government agencies, as well as area non-profits, the Achievement Center will serve as an essential hub for the community.


In December 2004, the Wilmington Alumni Chapter took a momentous step towards its vision to establish the Kappa Mainstream Leadership Achievement Center in Wilmington, Delaware. Through the hard work, determination and diligence by the members of the Board of Directors of the Kappa Mainstream Leadership, Inc., we successfully secured  from the Honorable Thomas P. Gordon, New Castle County Executive. These funds will be used exclusively towards converting a 12,000 square foot building to a first class Achievement Center that will provide an assortment of services and resources to low and moderate income families with New Castle County.

   In May of 2004, after hearing our proposal for the first time, Mr. Gordon immediately offered his assistance to our project. He indicated that he was truly impressed with the mission of the Mainstream Leadership, Inc. and the level of commitment by the Brothers of Wilmington Alumni Chapter. He knew of no other organization of college educated, professional men who were willing to commit their time and energy to such a worthwhile endeavor.

  Mr. Gordon notified the Mainstream Leadership Board in early December, indicating that he identifies monies, in the form of a grant, within an existing departmental budget of the County Government to help finance the historic project.

  On Saturday, December 4, 2004, the Mainstream Leadership, Inc. hosted a special check presentation ceremony at the Achievement Center. Brother Michael Brewington, Polemarch of the Northeastern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was in attendance along with Brothers of the Wilmington Alumni Chapter and University of Delaware, Nu Xi Chapter.
